The vocal and instrumental group — the band “Agape” — was founded in May 2015 by the then assistant priest, Fr Jošt Mezeg. It is made up of ten young people who want to praise God in song. The instruments used are guitars, saxophone, flute, piano and drums. The Agape band first played at the celebration of the cathedral’s patronal feast and at the golden jubilee Mass of Mgr Antun Cirimotić in 2015. The band also leads the singing at the Masses when our parish keeps the Votive Day of St Mother Teresa on the fifth of every month; it takes part in Christmas concerts across Macedonia and in cultural events such as book launches, and it contributes to the music programme of Radio Maria Macedonia. The band led the singing at the vigil held for the national celebration “Days of St Mother Teresa” in Skopje, in honour of her canonisation, on 10 September 2016.

The band also played at the ecumenical and interreligious meeting of Pope Francis with young people, held during his apostolic visit to Macedonia on 7 May 2019.
The members of the band set to music St Mother Teresa’s well-known poem “Farewell”, which she wrote as she was leaving Skopje for the missions, the band’s own anthem, “Agape”, and parts of the Mass in Macedonian.
